I began the epitaph project at Hollywood Forever Cemetery In 1995. I purchased a grave plot, erected a slate tombstone/chalkboard on it, and invited the interventions of the community at large in a collaborative process. I am intermittently present to document epitaphs and always attend the Day of the Dead celebration the Cemetery holds each October.
